✏ Persuasive Writing - 3rd grade

We wrote persuasive letters to Mr. Adams. We convinced him that we should have a longer recess! We used the "OREO" method. We stated "O" - our opinion. We stated "R"- reasons for our opinion. We stated "E"- explanations of our reasons. Then, we restated "O"- our opinion. Mr. Adams came into our room and read a few letters aloud. We persuaded him to give us a longer recess!!! We were able to enjoy a longer recess yesterday.

πŸ—½Ellis IslandπŸ—½

We are studying immigration. We did an Ellis Island interview with our families. We wanted to see if any of our ancestors came through Ellis Island.

🌎 Our ancestors came from many countries.  Here are all the countries our ancestors came from. 🌏

They came from: England, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Prussia, Holland, Greece and Poland.

β›΄ Most of our ancestors arrived by boat.

πŸ—½The Ellis Island immigrants arrived between 1892-1954.πŸ—½

This is when our ancestors arrived:

1760, 1838, 1847, 1848, 1854, 1882, 1892, 1914, 1951, and 1957.

πŸ—½So, some of our ancestors were Ellis Island immigrants!πŸ—½

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Here is an amazing fact about one of our classmate's ancestors. They are related to the Wright brothers!!! They invented, built, and flew the first modern airplane!!

πŸ—½"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door."πŸ—½
