Present: Mr. Adams, Carrie Rupley, Laura Fortman, Angie Jansen, Mrs. Yoder, Mrs. Taube, Joni Lazoff, Andrea Winkle, Kevin Strater, Shane Clouse, Mrs. Curtis

Absent: Father Daniel, Kim Hesher, Brian Myers, Melissa Cass

Opening - School Board Prayer

Approval of October’s minutes-approved

Mike Hernandezpeterson-Guest Speaker

    • Mr. Hernandezpeterson spoke on the topic of Alumni relations and fundraising. He offered many ideas and pieces of advice. Networking is so important!
      • Start an Alumni FB page, e-newsletters, Alumni Fund Drive, develop an annual             fund (for mailing and promo), mailings: “stories” about alumni only 3-4 pages, possible thank you christmas card with free will envelope for giving, webpage for alumni-with link to updating personal information and a DONATE button, Alumni awards night
      • GATHER THEIR STORIES, St. Mary is where they started their path and look what they are doing now, show alumni how their investments have made a difference
      • Booklet with faces of kids “$$ provides so much for a students books or tuition”
      • Encourage endowments funds, scholarship in the name of those who have passed, planned gifts in their wills, stocks, & annuities 
      • He also urged the grant committee to look into all community foundations (Dekalb, Noble,etc.)
      • Mr. Hernandezpeterson left several business cards with his contact info and offered to help the board in any way that he could. Contact Angie Jansen if you need further contact info. 

  

HASA Report: Kim-Absent

    • Selling tupperware at Christmas time
    • No meeting in November

Committee Reports:

    1.  Finance & Development - Brian-Absent

     2.  Catholic Identity- Andrea-nothing new

    3.  Enrollment & Marketing-Joni

        -Entered into Kendallville Christmas Parade

        -We can bump our internet presence by entering info into google

        -There is a need to improve the website, Joni’s brother has generously offered to donate his                 time and talents to update our website. Possible FaceTime with him at our December meeting to         discuss changes

    4.  Principal Evaluation-Laura (In Spring)

     5.  Strategic Planning- Brian-Absent, committee meeting for tonight will be rescheduled to another  month

Old/ Ongoing Business:

    1. Diocesan School Board In-service: Reports

        -Mr. Adams, Laura, Angie, Shane, Andrea, & Kevin attended

        -Keynote speaker was Cathie Bledsoe from ISP, spoke on Internet Crimes Against Children

        -4 breakout sessions: Enrollment Trend Data & Financial Forecasting, New Board Members In- Service, SGO’s & Your School: Diocesan Donation Web Portal, Communicating the Mission of Catholic Schools

        -overall a very good experience for new board members old and new, highly recommended that  as many board members as possible attend each year

2. Spaghetti Dinner

        -Possible February date, Kevin to keep us updated

    3. Kendallville Christmas Parade-Dec 2nd

        -Decorating wagon at Laura’s house-TBD    

School Administration Report

    -Working with 8 staff members putting together an e-learning proposal for Superintendent Jordan

    -No implementation date yet

Pastor’s Report-Father Absent

Other Business: Light of Learning Lunch, January 29th 

Parish Council: Joni Lazoff attended October meeting.  

    -Father wanted to make sure the grant committee wasn’t asking different groups for the same money.

    -Morning masses are @ 7:30 now

Next meeting is Tuesday, November 21st @ 7PM- Kevin Strater
