Horn of Plenty
First and Fifth grade share their Rachel's Challenge kindness chain.
Rosaries created by the First Grade class.
First graders celebrated National Young Reader's Day with several exciting activities! Each student brought in their favorite book, stuffed animal, and pillow. We began our day with quiet reading time. We were then joined by some of our family members for shared reading time. Next, first grade met in their classroom book club groups to read and talk about a story. In the afternoon, the fifth graders joined us for more shared reading. As part of our day, Mrs. Grimm read "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss. Then we had a goldfish guessing contest. The winner took home a jar full of fish! We had a terrific day enjoying books and all the wonderful stories they hold!
First grade was spooktacular in their halloween parade! We had angels, shepherds, saints, peacocks, a butterfly, a tiger, a skunk, a knight, and an Egyptian princess. After our parade thru the school, we enjoyed games and treats. Happy Halloween to all!
First grade invited family members to join us for a half hour of shared reading time. Students and their family members were able to read to each other. This was our first Family Friday, and we are looking forward to our November date so we can show how much we are improving our reading skills!
