Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

On the Solemnity of the Assumption, teachers and students gathered for a prayer service led by the school staff to honor our Blessed Mother. The Gospel passage of the Annunciation and Mary’s visit to Elizabeth was read. Petitions were prayed asking for the intercession of Mary of Lourdes, Our Lady of Czestochowa (people of Poland), Lady of La Vang (people of Vietnam), Lady of Africa, Lady of Guadalupe, Lady of Perpetual Help, and Our Lady ofSorrows. Behold by David Kaufman was heard. It is a song based on the Magnificat. Hail Mary, Gentle Woman was sung by everyone. A few minutes of silent reflection were used to listen toThere is a Presence by John Angotti. Our prayer service ended with a unanimous, YES!!!, which was Mary’s answer to God’s call.
